Alter weißer Mann
Alter weißer Mann
Times are delicate. Family man Heinz Hellmich learns this the hard way when, after a few awkward missteps at work, he suddenly faces the loss of his job. To prove he’s not just an “old white man,” he invites his boss and several other guests (or should that be “guest*esses”?!) to dinner at his home. With his whole family in tow, he wants to showcase himself at his best—modern, “wokest,” and all.
But even in the run-up to the evening, Heinz blunders from one faux pas to the next, realizing that his wife Carla, the kids, and Grandpa Georg are anything but harmonious. When, after much turbulence, everyone finally sits around the same table, the politically correct façade quickly starts to crumble. Old quarrels resurface, surprise visitors keep introducing fresh twists, and the diverse dinner party lurches chaotically through the minefield of today’s most sensitive topics—until, in the end, the question remains: how can bridges be built despite all the conflicts, both within the Hellmich family and in society at large?
