Toni loves his espresso machine. Paul loves his phone. Toni can’t live without his hair pills; Paul can’t live without his sacred sneakers. But, most of all, Paul can’t live without Toni—and Toni can’t live without Paul. They just don’t realize it yet. It’s always a contest over who’s better or cooler, and now they’re paying the price: they’re sitting there with no furniture, no clothes—naked and shivering. They’ve bet that for one hundred days they must give up everything. Each day only one item comes back. And this is only day one! Already they’re tangled in questions that never crossed their minds before: What do you really need? Do we own our possessions, or do our possessions own us?
