Zwei zu eins
Halberstadt, summer 1990. Maren (Sandra Hüller), Robert (Max Riemelt) and Volker (Ronald Zehrfeld) have known and loved one another since childhood. Quite by chance they discover millions of East German marks stored in an old mine shaft—cash left to rot after the fall of the GDR.
The three of them smuggle backpacks full of money to the surface. With help from friends and neighbors, they devise a clever scheme to swap the now-worthless banknotes for goods, outsmarting the incoming Westerners and their capitalism. After all, with a bit of ingenuity, this summer can become not just a grand adventure but the decisive turning point in all their lives.
