In the not-too-distant future: A technology that lets one person transfer years of life to another has turned the biotech start-up AEON into a multibillion-dollar pharma giant—and changed the world forever. When Elena faces insurance claims she and her husband Max can’t pay, she is forced to sell 40 years of her life to AEON. Max, who works for the company, sets out to win those years back. After discovering that AEON’s CEO is personally after Elena’s lifespan, he kidnaps her, launching the couple on a flight that forces them to leave their home and pushes them to the very edge of their moral limits.
